Located in the city of Melorakka. The name has long since been forgotten by most of history(Knowledge History/Local 30 for true name of the city and its history). Known as Mel to the inhabitants.
The only known school of Sorcery in the world. While there are other magical institutions this is the only one to cater to only sorcerers. Located in the center of Mel within the Nelili empire it serves as both a bastion of strength and source of recruits for the military. This school teaches those with a spark of magic how to better control it and help guide them into understanding their gift. It expands the knowledge of the students so while a Sorcerer in the wild could cast and use powerful spells they often lack the background and knowledge on how magic works. It also teaches and allows research for further growth of the Sorcerers ability and new spells. While cultivating the local populous for new and upcoming talent it also encourages military service. Using illusion spells to depict battles and show people the wonderful things their emperor is doing. Of those who go to the school over 50% join the military or a mercenary group that is employed by the empire.
Anton Whispermoss - Teacher at the Strandir School of Sorcery. Teaches multiple
subjects. He is mostly known as an expert in practical theory and magical applications, also magical
Particle Acceleration (things go boom class). Friendly to all students he is one of those who attempts
to see solutions to any problem. Such an outlook has also earned him the position of Student
Educational and Vocational Admin.
Morton Jedion - Teacher and senior administrator at the school. He supervises the teaching staff along with his Math and physics classes. Known as a stern man he isn't liked by much of
the student populous. He is however one of the few teachers who still is asked questions by previous
students with regularity. Also known in some circles for research and study on "Jedion effect" which
is the point of a reverse gravity spell where an object is held with no momentum. Jedion has written
several books upon the issue and possible uses of it. The limits of his magical ability however keep
him from testing it more than a few times each day. Also finding volunteers can be difficult.
Goodwin Moore - Current President of Strandir School of Sorcery. A few years ago he
commented, "our understanding of magical theory and use will double every two years." So far the
statement has held true as advances in knowledge and theory have made leaps. Goodwin holds the same
motto regarding magic as the founder did, "With talent comes power. With knowledge comes control."
The design of teaching knowledge and theory to those who have the innate ability has so far been
successful. As a sorcerer himself and one of great power he is one of the few administrators there
that were not a student when they were younger there. He has however been there the longest. He has
been president for over 250 years.
Lomar Earol - Teacher of Conjuration and summoning. One of the youngest teachers in the school. Known to be a harsh instructor even to the point of allowing the study subjects to injure the students. He often states he is in complete control at all times and the students were never in any lethal danger. "Just some scrapes and bruises to teach them. In the real world they will learn at a harsher price."
